Well I officially have a new favorite place for shooting.  I had never heard of Borderland State Park in North Easton, but it was perfectly located halfway between myself and my clients driving up from Rhode Island, so I thought we’d give it shot.  Borderland is simply gorgeous, and we only experienced a bit of it during our shoot.  There are multiple ponds and lakes, deep forest, open fields and plenty of trails for walking, hiking, or biking.  I highly recommend going by for a walk, it’s only about 35 minutes south of Boston and definitely worth the trip.  My only caveat is to be careful of the geese down by the lake, one of them got nasty with me!

Jen and Greg are totally adorable and have so much fun together.  They’re both studying to be doctors up in Rochester NY so I was lucky enough to grab them for a quick shoot while they were in town.

Here’s that goose I mentioned, I was able to catch him mid-hiss.  Ack!

I had my long lens on for the shot on the right below and Jen & Greg had no idea I was taking this picture, they just make each other smile like this naturally

Sitting in these grasses was less fun than you may think, we came out covered in all kinds of organic matter – but anything for the shot, right?

I was practically giddy when the path were on through the trees opened into this huge field.  There were so many photographic opportunities my head practically popped!

I just love me some trees, so this shoot was like a field day

I can’t wait for their wedding next year – Greg’s father is a family friend and a photographer himself so I have to make sure I’m on my toes!

In other news, lets hope this is my LAST post before baby – I’m due tomorrow – eeek!

Ruijie and Max are my favorite kind of clients – ones that love photos!  They both had great attitudes throughout the whole shoot – even when it started to get pretty hot at the end.  Since Ruijie and Max were up for anything we took lots of time and walked all over Castle Island in South Boston on a beautiful summer day.  After one outfit change, a lot of jumping and smooching, and many smiles later, the result is one of my favorite shoots to date.

Ruijie is wearing three dresses during the course of her wedding day, and this gorgeous  number is going to be the third.  I just had to encourage some twirling to show it off

I definitely love playing with the color in my photos, but I was recently inspired by the work of one of my dearest friends, Ohio photographer Jessica Love, to edit with rich monotones.  After a bit of trial and error, I’m totally in love with the tones I created for the photos below…and let’s be honest, the fact that Ruijie and Max are perfect models didn’t hurt!

Ok, back to color!

Ruijie and Max have been together for almost 11 years, and their comfort level makes for beautiful and intimate photos

I haven’t applied texture to my photos in a while, but I like the effect on these below

Finally, everyone loves a good jump, and these guys nailed it

Stay tuned for  photos from their wedding in the fall – I can’t wait!

Michelle and Bret are so NICE.  Completely, genuinely, and warmly nice.  Michelle and I went to college together and were members of different sorority houses.  We ended up both working in the same group as ambassadors for the Greek system and have stayed in relative touch ever since.   Michelle is always the first to offer a nice word or special gesture (she showed up with a baby present for me!) and when I met Bret for the first time at our shoot I was not surprised to find that he was as pleasant and warm as his fiancée.

The three of us had a nice morning wandering around the Public Garden and Beacon Hill – we obviously picked a popular time and place for photography, we saw at least 4 other couples having their photos taken as well.  Hopefully these photos were among some of the best taken that day :)

Bret proposed to Michelle in the Garden, so of course we had to photograph in the spot near where the special moment happened.  They’re so comfortable and happy together, it was wonderful to see.

The Public Garden is great because it has the perfect mix of iconic locations (like the bridge and statue, photos below), and hidden private spots for more intimate moments.

M&B are actually in the photos above and below, can you spot them? :)

We continued onto Beacon Hill for some more classic Boston charm

Sorry for the brick over-load, but it’s Beacon Hill, what do you expect?

Many congrats to Michelle and Bret, I’m so lucky to know you both!

My recent e-session by the Charles River with Rebecca & Jason has been picked up by Whimsical Wonderland Weddings out of the United Kingdom.   The blogger, Louise, is a sweetheart and I’m honored that she liked my work enough to feature it.   There are many examples of inspiring photography on the site, please give it a look!

In other news, klc photography is now an officially registered business!  I’m excited that my business continues to grow, and while I have to start paying taxes, I also get to write off my expenses – hello new camera! :)

I have begun to print and frame many of my photos from India & Nepal.  If you’re interested in purchasing any of the photos, please contact me.  I’m offering framed prints for as little as $25.

And finally, many/most of you know the news, but klc photography is expecting a baby photographer-to-be in July…

Since my Valentine’s Day promotion was such a hit I’ll be offering a maternity/baby deal to be announced next week.  Keep your eyes here for the details.

Best wishes for a beautiful and relaxing weekend.

Becky is an old college friend and sorority sister of mine. She has a bright and energetic personality and a laugh that is downright infectious. When she met Jason a few years ago, we all quickly knew that they would be together forever. Becky and Jay live in Cambridge’s Kendall Square and often walk home together over the Longfellow Bridge, so for our engagement shoot the three of us took a stroll by the Charles on a gorgeous spring day.  I had a lot of fun editing these and giving them a light and whimsical feel, but more importantly I’m thankful to have spent a few hours with two lovely friends.

I shot a ton of these trees. The blossoms were in full bloom and it was just gorgeous. Days like these really remind me how much I love BostonThis is one of my favorite photos of Jay from the whole shoot – he looks handsome and confidentAfter a quick stop to survey the skyline from the bridge, we continued on for some Beacon Hill charmBest wishes to Becky and Jay as they plan their destination wedding…which coincidentally was exactly one year from the date we did this shoot! Huge congrats – love you both!

I think I have found the perfect location for engagement sessions.  The deCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA is just packed with quirky photo opportunities.

When huge life-sized pieces of art, rolling hills, and tall trees are combined with early-spring light and a warm & fun couple the result just had to great.

I had a wonderful afternoon with Liz, Chris, and their adorable puppy Myla and I can’t wait for their wedding in August!

So, unfortunately, I don’t have a Valentine this year.  Sad for me – great for you!

I’m putting all my VDay love into my shooting - If you book  a portrait/engagement/whatever-you’d-like session in the month of February and mention this promotion you’ll get a one hour shoot at your choice of location for $100.  (The shoot only needs to be booked this month, we can shoot whenever you’d like.)  You’ll receive a disc with all the edited and organized images with full reproduction rights.  If you love my work and would like to book me for your wedding I’ll offer 10% off the package total.

I can’t wait to share and spread the love!  Please contact me at korri@korrileighcrowley.com with any inquiries.

Lorraine and Greg are both enthusiastic, friendly and fun.  I couldn’t ask for better personalities to shoot.  They happily laid on the ground, climbed on benches, and did whatever other silly things I asked them to do.  Their adorable (and well-behaved!) black pug Otis also added to the fun of the shoot.

Unfortunately the night fell quickly while we wandered around Fanueil Hall, and I was lamenting the low light….until….the magic happened.  We made our way down the Rose Kennedy Greenway and I decided to break out my small tripod and try some long-exposures.  The first few on the street came out so great that I suggested we walk down to the new big water fountain near the Aquarium…and the result?  Well…..you can see for yourself….

**SQUEAL!!** Oh man, getting a photo like this is just so exciting for me.   We got tons of great shots from the day, but for this post I’m going to focus on the long exposure shots that I took…because when they look like this, I just have to :)

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next September, it’s going to be a big, beautiful and exciting affair!  Until then, I leave you with Mr. Otis the pug…how can you not love that face!?

I loved this shoot!!  Melanie and Bikila met while studying together at Harvard University.  Their friendship and eventual love developed while living in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, and Melanie wanted to document their love story by photographing the places that are important to the couple.

Although a Nor’easter was expected, we received the gift of a beautiful, but COLD, New England autumn day and spent the afternoon touring Harvard Yard and the square.  So many thanks to the wonderful couple for allowing me to take a peek into their happy life together.

Melanie & Bikila: The Anatomy of a Love Story

M&B had many of their classes together at William James Hall on the Harvard campus.  Though they don’t like remembering all the work they had to do while in this building, it still holds a special place in their hearts.

We took a stroll through Harvard Yard, where the trees were in perfect autumn form and the picturesque  old buildings also provided a great backdrop

After the Yard, we walked into Harvard Square and had to make a quick stop at the T station

Our next stop was the Harvard Coop bookstore, a very special place for the couple as it is the first place that they said “I love you.”  Since that is such an intimate memory, I used my longer lens and shot from across the store to give them some privacy

Off to the Redline bar, where Melanie and Bikila shared their first kiss

We spent some time on the patio of Au Bon Pain, a place where they spent many nights over coffee, talking well into the night and getting to know each other

Finally, after some more strolling, our last stop was the Harvard Bookstore, the spot where they used to meet when each came from their respective apartments

I really can’t gush enough about how much I enjoyed these two and I am so excited to have brought their love story to life.  This is a hard year for Melanie and Bikila as he is in law school in Philadelphia while Melanie remained at Harvard to finish her PhD.  I hope these photos will be a small way for them to feel closer together.

Cara & Dan are an amazing couple that was up for anything.  Despite the chilly temperatures, we kept ourselves warm by running around Green Harbor Beach, and I think the energy was captured well in these photos.

I used two main color profiles for this session, the first my absolute favorite gold/green that captured the warmth of the sun, and a second that is sharp and bold with strong blue tones that helped to convey the chill in the air and brisk wind.

Over-all I am beyond pleased with this shoot.  A beautiful day and a beautiful couple.  Perfection.

Congrats to Cara & Dan as they  plan their wedding and start their lives together!
