Nice to finally meet you, baby
July 23, 2010Baby Ella | Boston Newborn Photography
July 13, 2010As I anxiously await the arrival of my first child (literally any day now), I’ve been distracting myself by editing the photos of adorable Ella. Just look at the sweetness…
Ella was three weeks young when I visited with her lovely parents Suzanne and Robert and big brother Matthew. Ella was the absolute best baby, she didn’t cry once in the two hours I was there and didn’t seem to mind being constantly cooed and loved over, but now that I think of it, that doesn’t seem that bad

Finally, this baby-in-a-suitcase cuteness is just too much. I love when I’m able to realize a shot I’ve envisioned and have it be this darn adorable.

Hopefully next time you hear from me, I’ll have my own little bundle!
Wish me luck, I think I’m going to need it…

Baby Alisa | Boston Family Photography
June 7, 2010
Hello there Pumpkin!
Meet little Alisa, the adorable daughter of Helena and Kosta – the founders and owners of Thanks Mama, a local company that specializes in cloth diapers and accessories for eco-minded Moms. I’m hoping to cloth diaper my soon-to-be-born son, and the Thanks Mama website has been an invaluable resource. The site is packed with information, product reviews, and the lowest prices I’ve found anywhere – and I’ve looked! In addition to all the diapering supplies you need, Thanks Mama also carries baby carriers, toys, baby leggings and a host of other products, most with organic and eco-friendly options. I love what Helena and Kosta are doing so much that I’ll be blogging for them over at the Thanks Mama Blog – look for my posts soon.
Alisa was shy at first, but by the end of our shoot she was happily playing in the sand and discovering all kinds of fun shells and crabs. It was a challenge rolling around in the sand with my belly, but the results were worth it!

All it took was some playtime with Daddy to loosen Alisa right up…
and then the real fun began…

A lovely afternoon with lovely people…and I’m just so glad it’s finally summer!

Gen & Polina | Boston Family Photography
June 1, 2010This shoot was a fun challenge for me because unlike my usual couple shoots, these two aren’t engaged – they’re mother and daughter. Gen (her full name is Yevgenia, how cool is that?) wanted to treat her mother Polina to some photos as a gift and we were blessed with a warm and sunny Boston day. Gen and Polina were so lovely and didn’t even mind when we had to move the location of the shoot last minute because our original spot of the Public Garden was mobbed due to a free concert that day.
Gen is the absolute cutest and I wasn’t surprised to find that her mother was just as adorable. I hope to have captured some of their obvious bond and love while providing family photos that are a bit different than the norm.
Look at these beautiful women – you can certainly see the family resemblance!

The Christian Science Center was a great place to shoot, lots of lines and angles – my favorite! And luckily since it’s early in the season we didn’t have to hide from those pesky guards who don’t always take kindly to photographers.

How cute are these two? So much warmth and fun.
They could be cover models with their fierce poses!

Gen and Polina were nice enough to humor me with some of my more funky shots, I’m glad they did, I love how they came out!

And finally, my favorite shot from the day, both mother and daughter look just beautiful
I had a great day with Gen and Polina and it made me miss my own mother – I’m glad to be seeing her soon. If you haven’t spoken with your mom in a while, give her a call and tell her thanks!

Faces of Family | Child Photography
March 17, 2010I recently returned from a great weekend visiting family in Pittsburgh. My family means so much to me and I’m so thankful that I was able to spend time getting to know my youngest cousins. Maeve, almost 5, and Gage, almost 2, are smart and funny little ones, and I had a blast chasing after them with my camera. I’m looking forward to shooting more children this spring – there is so much wonder in the face of a child and it’s a pleasure to try and capture it.
The focus is a wee bit off in this portrait of Gage, but I like the resulting soft focus. It’s hard to get it just right when trying to wrangle with 2-year-old energy!

Speaking of energy, look at Maeve go!
Hello cute one!

Playtime with Jomei | Boston Child Photography
October 30, 2009So, I’m not around children that much. My cousins are all grown, and I’m just starting to enter the age where my friends are having babies – the ones that do have little ones live far away. Therefore my most frequent interaction with children comes from riding public transportation, and let’s be honest, those kids are usually not the most well-behaved, and when you shove them in a small train or bus with lots of people…it can get ugly.
So when I was asked to do a child shoot I was initially a little nervous…after-all kids don’t take direction like my well-behaved adult clients. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. Jomei is the absolutely darling 9-year-old daughter of a co-worker of my mother’s. Jomei and her Mom Kristen have such a wonderful relationship and that really shone through during our shoot. We had so much fun running around in the Boston Public Garden; Jomei climbed pretty much every tree in the park, and spent the rest of the time evenly split between chasing squirrels and jumping in leaves.
I really can’t think of a better way to spend an autumn afternoon in Boston….
Cartwheels!! I won’t divulge the secret behind getting this shot…but suffice to say there was some luck involved

Lots of tree climbing!

This girl knows how to make a serious leaf pile!

Gathering nuts to give to the squirrels!
