About Me, Ms. KLC
October 18, 2009I am Boston-based photographer that specializes in photojournalism, engagements and weddings, fine-art and anything else that I can point my camera at.
While I don’t have an obvious or particular style, there are common threads that tend to run throughout my images.
I love color. I love to tweak and play with color. I often alter the color profiles of my images to reflect the mood and conditions of the day. A shoot on the beach in the warm sun? I add subtle gold tones. A brisk windy day? I’ll emphasize the blues. An intimate moment? I’ll soften the colors and add a vintage touch. I love the process of editing my photos and get (almost!) as much joy from the post-processing that I do from the shooting.
I love shape, form, and angles. Anyone can take a snapshot, and there is a place for every type of photo, but I like to move around when I shoot. I often shoot with prime lenses that don’t zoom, which means I “focus with my feet.” A typical shoot has me climbing trees, laying on the ground, crouching under tables, getting way up close, running far away…you get the idea. I think it is the job of a photographer to take in the world as our eyes do, and then frame it in a way that we wouldn’t normally see. Furthermore, I love atmospheric photos. A photo of a BIG space with a small element that makes it special, and makes it yours.
Finally, I approach my photography with a feeling of pure fascination. The world is an amazing place, and we are all a part of that wonder. With my photographs I simply try to capture the beauty that is all around us.
